Joe Biden says what he means
I thought Paul Ryan’s best one-liner in the vice-presidential debate last week was his response to Joe Biden’s attack on Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” statement. Arguing that Romney had simply chosen his words poorly, Ryan said
I think the Vice President very well knows that sometimes the words don’t come out of your mouth the right way.
Ryan’s response drew many laughs from the otherwise silent audience since it reminded everyone that Biden is well known for plenty of his own gaffes. Biden attempted to defend himself by saying
But I always say what I mean.
Biden’s statement was intended to argue that Romney really meant what he said about the “47 percent” even if he had chosen his words poorly. Unfortunately for Biden, this left open the door for this brilliant RNC ad:
